SEASIDE, Calif. - Cal State Monterey Bay junior forward
Mason Ward was named the FloCollege/CCAA Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Friday.
The junior from Temecula scored a goal and had four assists as the Otters defeated San Francisco State, 7-1, to close out the 2024 regular season. The award marks the fourth straight week that CSUMB has been recognized.
The Otters scored five goals in the first half, including four in the final 13 minutes. Ward had a hand in three before the half. He assisted on a goal by
Hugo Vargas-Rios before Vargas-Rios teamed up with
Eric Vazquez-Acosta to return the favor and assist on Ward's goal in the 35th minute. Ward posted another assist five minutes later on a goal by
Will Seargeant. He would add two more in the second half.
Ward is now tied for second in the CCAA in assists (six), fifth in points (20), and sixth in goals (seven).
CSUMB earned the No. 5 seed in the 2024 CCAA Men's Soccer Tournament presented by FloCollege. It will open postseason play at Cal State LA on Sunday at 2 p.m.
