SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay men's soccer team had six student-athletes recognized by the CCAA in their annual end of season awards the conference office announced Wednesday. CSUMB and Cal Poly Pomona paced the CCAA with five first or second-team selections.
Senior
Hugo Vargas-Rios and
Mason Ward were named to the first-team. Vargas-Rios led the Otters with eight goals and added four assists for 20 points. Ward posted a team-high 21 points on seven goals and seven assists. His seven assists ranked second in the conference.
Seniors
Jack Blickenstaff,
Janos Kömmerling and
Alexis Sanchez garnered second-team recognition. Blickenstaff was second in the CCAA with a 0.77 goals against average. His goals against average and .806 save percentage rank second all-time in the CSUMB single-season annals. Blickenstaff also made 25 saves and posted four shutouts in his eight matches played.
Kömmerling recorded a goal and handed out two assists in his 13 games played while Sanchez anchored the Otter defense and recorded five points on two goals and an assist.
Senior
Kane Ritchie nabbed honorable mention accolades with seven points on two goals and three assists. The Otters capped off their season with an 8-4-6 overall record and a 5-2-4 mark in CCAA play.
