Otters Still Looking For First CCAA Win

Team returns from tough trip to host Humboldt, Sonoma

SEASIDE, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay Volleyball team returns to The Kelp Bed looking for its first CCAA victory after a tough roadtrip to San Bernardino and San Francisco State last weekend.

The Otters dropped a pair of sweeps, falling 25–18, 25–9, 25–19 at No. 14 San Bernardino and 25–11, 25–10, 25–19 at S.F. State.

Senior Kaylie Honberger was the only Otter to reach double figure kills on the trip, finishing with 10 at San Bernardino. Sophomore defensive specialist Dani Smith posted 12 digs as the statistical highlight against the Gators.

CSUMB will look to collect its first conference win of 2023 at home this weekend when its host Cal Poly Humboldt Friday (Sept. 29) and Sonoma State Saturday (Sept. 30) in The Kelp Bed. First serve both nights is scheduled for 5 p.m.

The Otters have won six consecutive games against Humboldt on The Kelp Bed floor and eight of nine overall against the Lumberjacks. Sonoma State, one of the top teams in the nation again this season, is receiving votes in this week's national rankings and will provide a tough challenge to close the weekend.
