VISTA, Calif. — A total team effort led the Cal State Monterey Bay women's golf team to its first title since 2017 with a 4–stroke victory at the Fujikura Invitational Tuesday at Shadowridge Golf Club.

It marked the first tournament team victory for the Otters since winning the California Bays Tournament in 2017. Of greater importance, the Otters picked up head-to-head wins over many of the top ranked teams in the West Region, including seven against teams ranked in the Top 40 in NCAA Division II play.

CSUMB, ranked No. 26 in the latest GolfStat national rankings, held off a hard charge from tournament host and No. 14 ranked Cal State San Marcos, to earn the trophy. San Marcos erased all of an 8–stroke deficit midway through the final round, but the Otters were able to restore their advantage down the stretch.

"I'm really proud and happy for the team today; they stayed competitive from the start and finished strong playing the final hole 2–under," said CSUMB Head Coach Jim Ragan. "They have been working hard the entire year. It's great to see them succeed and get a win today."

All five Otters contributed at least one scoring round to the win. Senior Katie Stribling (Tustin/Foothill HS) did the most damage, following a season–best 72 Monday with a 78 Tuesday to claim a share of fifth place at 6–over 150. Senior Isabel Carpenter (San Luis Obispo HS) and sophomore Tilda Kvarnrud (Mariestad, Sweden) just missed Top 10 finishes of their own, tying for 12th at 154.

Cathy Tong (Newport Harbor HS) finished in 18th, one stroke back of Carpenter and Kvarnrud at 155. Junior Zoe Offield (Stockton/Tokay HS) added CSUMB's final scoring round Tuesday with a 76 and placed 33rd overall in the 77–golfer field.

Alli Kim of Point Loma Nazarene shot matching rounds of 72 to hold off Brady Turnquist of Biola University for medalist honors.

CSUMB will take next week off from competition before returning to action at The Patriot Invitational Mar. 20–21 at Poppy Hills Golf course.
