Otters Drop a Pair of Tight Ones in Day Two of Claremont Convergence

Cecile Judy nets four as Otters drop a pair of heartbreakers to Chapman and Concordia

CLAREMONT, CALIF. –
The Otters final regular season tournament came to an end today as they fell to Chapman 16-10 and Concordia Irvine 9-7 on Saturday at the Claremont Convergence Tournament.

The Otters opened up the day in an offensive slugfest with Chapman. CSUMB struck first with a Haley Alexander (Palos Verdes HS) goal, but Chapman responded with three unanswered goals and would not surrender the lead for the remainder of the competition. As the Otters worked their way back into the matchup, Shelby Fortune (San Diego/Patrick Henry HS) and Cecile Judy (Alameda HS) each scored a pair, but it was not enough, as the Otters fell 16-10.

The Otters again started things on the right foot against Concordia, scoring first, courtesy of a Kaya Eaton (San Diego/Helix HS) goal and tying the match up at two in the waning moments of the first quarter thanks to another Cecile Judy goal. A 3-0 second quarter for Concordia would propel them to victory however, narrowly holding off the Otters by a final of 9-7. Shea Tully (Yucaipa HS) scored her first collegiate hat trick in the hard fought effort.

The Otters will return home to take on Fresno Pacific on March 11. First sprint is set for 1:00 P.M. at the Otter Tank.
