Mabie Leads Otters to Season Sweep of Stanislaus State

Senior point guard scores 20 in 70-62 victory


TURLOCK, CALIF. – Cal State Monterey Bay Women's Basketball completed their season sweep of Stanislaus State on Thursday evening, downing the Warriors by a score of 70-62 at Fitzpatrick Arena. 

The Otters led wire-to-wire in this one, scoring at the 9:27 mark of the first quarter and never looking back. 

Mikayla Mabie (Riverside/UC Merced) put together her best scoring performance as an Otter, scoring 20 points on a 67% clip from the field. Behind Mabie, both Amelia Smith (Los Banos/Merced College) and Samiya Terry (Long Beach/Wilson HS) chipped in nine and combined for 12 rebounds. 
 

THE GAME WAS STATISTICALLY OVER WHEN… Samiya Terry brought down her seventh rebound of the contest with 41 seconds to go and the Otters ahead 69-59. 

SEASON SWEEP… Following their 93-63 victory over Stanislaus in Seaside, the Otters completed the season sweep over the Warriors with their victory tonight. The last time the Otters swept a conference opponent was in the 2016-17 season, when they twice defeated Humboldt. 

A NEW HIGH FOR MABIE… The Otters have often turned to senior point guard Mikayla Mabie to lead their offense, and tonight, she rewarded them with a 20 point outpouring. The 20 points marks not only a new Otter career high for Mabie, but also matches her career-high, which she first set against Pacific Union College on Feb. 15, 2022 while playing for UC Merced. 

CLIMBING THE RECORD BOOKS... With her three assists tonight, Mabie became just the fourth ever Otter to record at least 100 assists in a single season. She currently ranks fourth in the single season assist list with 101 so far this season, and is just 18 shy of the program record with three games to go. 

WELCOME BACK #1… A happy sight for many Otter faithful was that of Lauryn Pointer back on the floor. The senior out of Los Angeles returned from injury for her first action since Dec. 10, playing eight minutes and scoring five points.

UP NEXT… The Otters will finish their roadtrip Saturday when they face Chico State. Tip-off will be at 5:30 p.m. as the opener of doubleheader action with the Otter men.
