Second Half Lead Slips Away as Otters Fall to Broncos 69-64

Beaumont leads the way with 14 as Otters drop a tight one at Cal Poly Pomona

POMONA, CALIF. –
The Otters held a lead for over 15 minutes but couldn't keep to get across the finish line, falling to Cal Poly Pomona 69-64 on Saturday night at Kellogg Arena.

The Otters out scored the Broncos in three quarters, but a 19-9 third would be enough to push Cal Poly Pomona ahead of Monterey Bay.

Jordan Beaumont (San Mateo/Aragon HS) led all Otters with 14 points, shooting 50% from the field and from three. Samiya Terry (Long Beach/Wilson HS) chipped in 10 points while Mikayla Mabie (Riverside/UC Merced) logged her third double-digit assist contest with 10.

THE GAME WAS STATISTICALLY OVER WHEN… The Broncos knocked down a pair of free throws with 20 seconds left to make the score 69-61.

BEAUMONT STAYS HOT… Jordan Beaumont capped off the first half of this four game road trip with a pair of double-digit scoring efforts. After scoring 12 against San Bernardino Thursday, Beaumont dropped 14 tonight. This was also the fourth contest this season where Beaumont has drained at least three three point baskets.

THAT'S OUR PG… Not only did Mikayla Mabie make it to double-digit assists for the third time this season. She also limited herself to just one turnover. Led by Mabie, the Otters tallied 17 assists, the second most this season, and limited the turnovers to just 12, the third fewest this season.

LEADERS OF THE RAFT... POINTS: Jordan Beaumont 14; REBOUNDS: Sarah Shaw 5; ASSISTS: Mikayla Mabie 10; BLOCKS: None; Steals: Mikayla Mabie 3.
