WAIKOLOA, Hawaii —
The Cal State Monterey Bay women's golf team finished arguably its most promising fall campaign ever with a strong third place showing at the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate Saturday at the Waikoloa Beach Resort.

The Otters finished just one stroke out of second place, their finish in each of the first three tournaments this season. They shot 293 in Friday's opening round and 292 Saturday. Those are the third and second lowest team scores respectively on a par 72 layout in Otter history. Their 36–hole total of 585 is their lowest final score regardless of par.

"The team hung in there and competed all day long. There was a big pack of teams battling it out, similar to our previous three tournaments," said CSUMB Head Coach Jim Ragan.

Sophomore Mia Golovich (Murrieta Mesa HS/Sonoma State) and senior Zoe Offield (Stockton/Tokay HS) led the way with final round 71s. Golovich finished the tournament tied for fourth at 1–under 143. Offield and junior Madi Blanc (Oakdale HS) tied for 16th at 3–over.

Junior Cathy Tong (Newport Harbor HS) just missed a spot in the Top 20, placing 21st in the 94–golfer field at 4–over.

Cal State San Marcos took the team title at 13–under. CSUSM's Madison Murr went an incredible 11–under to earn medalist honors.

"Today, we ended up in the middle of the pack, which was disappointing. It was still a positive for our program finishing third out of 18 teams," said Ragan. "Mia had a great tournament and Zoe came through today as well. Overall we had a great fall and are looking forward to the spring season."

The Dennis Rose Intercollegiate marked the end of the fall portion of the 2023–24 CSUMB Women's Golf schedule. The Otters will return to action in the new year at the Cal State L.A. Invitational Feb. 5–6 at Brookside Country Club in Pasadena.
