WAIKOLOA, Hawaii —
Consistency was the name of the game for the Cal State Monterey Bay men's golf team, which recorded rounds of 290, 291 and 290 to earn a fourth-place finish at the HPU Sharks Shootout Tuesday at the Waikoloa Village Resort Course.

Freshman Tony Tao (Eastvale/Western Christian HS) continued the strong start to his collegiate career by earning another Top 10 finish, this time placing sixth at 4–under 212 on the par-72 layout. After grinding a 73 in Monday's opening round, he went red twice to close the event with rounds of 70 and 69.

Junior Tommy Kimberling (Rancho Cucamonga/Los Osos HS) also earned a Top 20 finish with scores of 72–72–73 (+1). Freshman Will Musson (Clovis North HS) placed two strokes outside the Top 20 at 3–over. 

Francis Bautista of Cal State Dominguez Hills won a playoff with Sonoma State's Colin Huang to earn medalist honors at 9–under 207. The University of Texas, Permian Basin won the team title going away at 11–under 853, eight strokes better than runner-up Colorado Christian.

CSUMB will close its Hawaii trip at the Dennis Rose Invitational in Waimea at the Hapuna Golf Course Oct. 27–28.
