DEARBORN, Mich. — Freshman Liam Allder (Sundsvall, Sweden) played a solid opening round to place himself in the hunt after the opening round of the NCAA Division II Men's Golf National Championship Tournament Monday at the TPC of Michigan course.

Allder carded a 1–under 73 to earn a share of 13th place through 18 holes. He is four strokes off the pace set by Oliver Mast of the University of Indianapolis.

Allder qualified for the championship as an individual after placing second at the NCAA Divison II West Regional earlier in May.

"Beautiful ball striking by Liam today…the putter just didn't cooperate," says CSUMB Head Coach Jason Owen. "His 1–over round was as high as he could've have shot. He showed great poise and looks good going into the rest of the tournament."

The NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament continues with 18 holes Tuesday at TPC Michigan. The indiivudal stroke play portion of the event concludes with 18 holes Wednesday afternoon.
