Simon Björken earns second consecutive Top 10 finish

WAHIAWA, Hawaii — The Cal State Monterey Bay men's golf team recorded its lowest round of the season Wednesday, shooting 4–under 284 to finish ninth overall at the Southwest Arilines/HPU Shark Shootout on the Leilehua Golf Course.

Sophomore Simon Björken (Hudiksval, Sweden) just missed carded his sixth consecutive round in the 60s, finishing with a 2–under 70 to finish the 36–hole event at 5–under, good for a share of 10th place. Fellow sophomore A.J. Fitzgerald (Palma School) shot CSUMB's low round of the afternoon with a 69 and finished tied for 41st at 2–over.

Sophomore Jack Deaner (Carmichael/Jesuit HS) earned his first Top 25 finish of the season by placing 23rd at 1–under 143, including a 71 Wednesday. Tommy Kimberling (Rancho Cucamonga/Los Osos HS) and Liam Allder (Sundsvall, Sweden) both shot 2–over Wednesday and finished tied for 51st in the 90–golfer field.

The Otters will take Thursday off as they hop over to the Big Island for the Southwest Airlines/Dennis Rose Invitational hosted by Hawaii–Hilo Friday and Saturday.
