Ethan McRae earns first CCAA Pitcher of the Weekaward; Brian Morley earns his second player of the week nod

SEASIDE, Calif. — Pitcher Ethan McRae and first baseman Brian Morley helped lead Cal State Monterey Bay to a road sweep of Cal State Dominguez Hills over the weekend. For their efforts, the Otter duo swept the CCAA Pitcher and Player of the Week Awards for the week ending Mar. 31.

This marks the first time the Otters have swept conference baseball player of the week honors since Danny Nelson (player) and Aaron Appino (pitcher) did so for the week ending Mar. 20, 2011.

For Morley, a senior first baseman from Carmichael (Jesuit HS) and Old Dominion University, it is his second PoTW award this season. He also earned it the week ending Feb. 24 after leading the Otters to a sweep of Cal State L.A.

For McRae, a junior pitcher from Hanford (Fresno CC), its is his first CCAA PoTW award. He is the first Otter pitcher to be so honored since Colton Fletcher for the week ending Mar. 18, 2018.

Morley finished the week hitting .533 (8–for–15) with two doubles and two home runs. He scored four runs and drove in 11 while slashing .533/.632/1.067 with a 1.699 OPS. He also walked twice and twice was hit by pitches.

McRae started the series finale and produced an absolute gem. He threw eight shutout innings, allowing just four hits and two walks while fanning four. Kale Leach came on to throw a perfect ninth to complete CSUMB's first shutout of 2019.

The Otters return to action this weekend when they host perennial power Cal Poly Pomona for a 4–game series Apr. 5–7.
