Big Games From Ealy, Parker, Tucker Not Enough At East Bay

Yolanda Ealy scores 15, Camille Parker adds 11–point, 13–rebound double–double in 73–59 loss

HAYWARD, Calif. — Cal State Monterey Bay got a trio of big performances Saturday afternoon, but it wasn't enough to prevent host Cal State East Bay from earning a 73–59 win in Pioneer Gym.

Junior Yolanda Ealy (Long Beach Poly/L.A. Valley College) led the Otters with 15 points. Senior guard Brianna Tucker (Clovis North HS) added 14 and sophomore forward Camille Parker (Alta Loma HS) chipped in an 11–point, 13–rebound double–double to lead CSUMB. It was enough to keep the Otters close for a half.

With three players seeing 37 or more minutes for the short–handed Otters, however, they eventually wore down in the second half as East Bay built a 21–point lead late in the third quarter. To its credit, CSUMB never stopped chipping away, but couldn't get back within single digits for the balance of the game.

THE GAME WAS STATISTICALLY OVER WHEN… An Otter foul with 50 seconds remaining gave East Bay a fresh shot clock protecting a 71–59 lead.

PARKER ON BOARD… Camille Parker has pulled down double figure rebounds in six consecutive games. It's the most consecutive double–figure rebounding games by an Otter at the NCAA level and the most overall since Johanna Mahoney did it in eight consecutive games from Nov. 23, 2002 through Jan. 2, 2003.

PARKER DOUBLES UP AGAIN… With 11 points and 13 rebounds, Camille Parker posted her team–leading fifth double–double of the season.

TOP 15 TUCKER… With three assists Saturday at Cal State East Bay, Brianna Tucker moved into the No. 14 spot on the Otter career assist list with 130, slipping past Victoria Dorn at 128. Tucker needs three assists to pass Shauna Flores for No. 13 and five assists to pass Michelle Santizo for No. 12.

TOP 20 TUCKER… With 14 points Saturday at Cal State East Bay, Brianna Tucker moved into the Top 20 on the Otter career scoring list with 472 points. She is tied with Courtney Keaton for No. 20. She needs two points to pass Johanna Mahoney for No. 19 and nine points to pass Stefani Corgel for No. 18.

LEADERS OF THE RAFT… POINTS: Yolanda Ealy 15; REBOUNDS: Camille Parker 13; ASSISTS: Jordana Price 4; BLOCKS: None; STEALS: Yolanda Ealy/Kim McKinney/Jordana Price/Serena Toney 1.

THEY'VE GOT NEXT… The Otters continue their season–ending 3–game roadtrip at No. 2 ranked UC San Diego Thursday (Feb. 28) as part of a CCAA doubleheader. The women will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. and the men will tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
