Five In Double Figures Lead Otters To Senior Day Win

Brianna Tucker scores 16, Camille Parkers adds 15 points, 17 boards in 74–55 victory over SFSU

SEASIDE, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team had played stretches of high level basketball this season. Saturday afternoon on Senior Day in The Kelp Bed, the Otters finally put it all together for 40 glorious minutes in a convincing 74–55 win over San Francisco State.

Although it was win number one for CSUMB this season, Otter fans had seen this coming for several weeks. Despite a depleted roster that saw just eight players dress for the game, CSUMB played its best game of the season on both ends of the floor.

Sophomore forward Camille Parker (Alta Loma HS) grabbed double–digit rebounds for the fourth consecutive game as part of her team–leading fourth double–double of the season, finishing with 15 points and a career–high 17 rebounds. But she was far from the only Otter star in this game.

Senior Brianna Tucker (Clovis North HS) led all scorers with 16 points while playing her final game in The Kelp Bed. Junior Yolanda Ealy (Long Beach Poly/L.A. Valley College) added 14 points and seven boards.

SFSU scored the game's first six points, but the Otters took over from there, going on an 11–0 run to take a lead they would never relinquish. They got the lead to 11 by halftime, 38–27, and never let the Gators within eight points of the lead for the balance of the game.

THE GAME WAS STATISTICALLY OVER WHEN… Yolanda Ealy grabbed an offensive rebound, allowing the Otters to keep possession with a 69–52 lead and 2:50 remaining in regulation.

PARKER ON BOARD… Camille Parker grabbed a career–high 17 rebounds in Saturday's win over San Francisco State, missing by one board the Otter record of 18 rebounds set three times previously. McKenna Hill was the last Otter to do it, in a win over Holy Names on Nov. 20, 2016.

PARKER ON BOARD, PART II… Camille Parker has pulled down double figure rebounds in four consecutive games. The last Otter to turn that trick was Courtney Keaton, who grabbed 10 or more boards in her last five collegiate games to close the 2017–18 season.

CHAIRWOMEN OF THE BOARDS… With Camille Parker leading the way, the Otters doubled SFSU's rebounding total Saturday, finishing with a 46–23 edge on the glass.

EXPERIENCING THE HIGHS… The Otters scored a season–high 74 points in Saturday's win over SFSU, eclipsing their previous best of 69 set twice previously. It's the most points they've scored since hanging 84 on Academy of Art in an 84–69 win on Nov. 14, 2017.

…AND THE LOWS… The Otter defense held the Gators to 55 points, the fewest it has allowed an opponent this season. It's the fewest points they've allowed since holding SFSU to 47 points in a 73–47 win on Jan. 20, 2018.

LEADERS OF THE RAFT… POINTS: Brianna Tucker 16; REBOUNDS: Camille Parker 17; ASSISTS: Camille Parker 4; BLOCKS: Yolanda Ealy/Kim McKinney 1; STEALS: Brianna Tucker 5.

THE LAST WORD… "I'm extremely proud and happy for this group. The monkey is finally off our backs. Total team effort lead by Cam, who was coming off a great individual game Thursday. I believe she was the catalyst today for our momentum. It's was a fun environment playing on Senior Day and sending our seniors out with a win!" – CSUMB Head Coach CJ Pace

THEY'VE GOT NEXT… The Otters hit the road for their final three games of the 2018–19 season, beginning at Cal State East Bay Saturday (Feb. 23) as part of a CCAA doubleheader. The women will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. and the men will tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
