Stanislaus Pulls Away In The Second Half To Win 62–48

Katie Fitzgerald scores 17; Camille Parker moves into rebounding Top 10

SEASIDE, Calif. — Depth won out for Stanislaus State Thursday night as the Warriors used their superior numbers to blow open a tie game with a strong second half and earn a 62–48 win in The Kelp Bed.

Led by 16 first–half points from Katie Fitzgerald (Mater Dei HS) the Otters led by as many as eight points in the first quarter and forged a 27–27 tie at the break. The Warriors turned that around in a hurry, starting the third quarter with a 14–0 run to take control.

The teams played to a 21–21 tie from that point forward, but the damage had been done.

In addition to Fitzgerald, who led all scorers with 17 points, the Otters got eight points from Serena Toney (Seattle/Roosevelt HS) and seven points and a game–high eight rebounds from Camille Parker (Alta Loma HS).

Angelica Baylon led Stanislaus with 15 points.

THE GAME WAS STATISTICALLY OVER WHEN… Kyanna Davis made the first of two free throws with 50 seconds remaining to give Stanislaus a 60–48 lead.

THE HIGHS AND THE LOWS… The Otters scored a season–high 16 points in the fourth quarter Thursday versus Stanislaus State. That followed a third quarter in which they scored seven points, their lowest third quarter of the season.
