SAN MARCOS, Calif. — Cal State Monterey Bay volleyball's 3–match trip ended Saturday afternoon with a 25–20, 25–23, 25–19 sweep at the hands of Cal State San Marcos in the CSUSM Sports Center.

Baylie Pierson (Vista Murietta HS) and Jenna Tobin (Modesto/Gregori HS) led the offense with eight kills apiece. Mollin Helfrich (Pinole/Salesian Prep) and Hannah Haveman (Parker, Colo./Legend HS) added five and four blocks respectively.

Malia Tuatagaloa (San Rafael HS) made her first start of the season at libero and led the back line with 15 digs.

The Otters played from behind in all three sets, but the only set they were out of early was the first. The second set was a close as the 25–23 scored would indicate and the fourth set was tied 18–18 before a late Cougar run closed the match.

The Otters return home to play just their third and fourth home match of the season next weekend when Stanislaus State and Chico State visit Oct. 11–12. First serve against Stanislaus Friday will be at 5 p.m. The Chico State match will start at 7 p.m. Saturday.
