Ealy’s Double–Double Not Enough In Setback At Stanislaus

Yolanda Ealy goes for 12 and 10, Jordana Price adds 18 points in 70–51 defeat

TURLOCK, Calif. — Junior forward Yolanda Ealy (Long Beach Poly/L.A. Valley JC) recorded her second double–double and senior guard Jordana Price (Seattle/Inglemoor HS) poured in a game–high 18 points Thursday night, but it wasn't enough to prevent host Stanislaus State from earning a 70–51 win in Fitzpatrick Arena.

The Otters started slow out of the gate, spotting Stanislaus a 12–0 lead before they got rolling. CSUMB still trailed by 12 early in the third quarter when a Chyna Dews (Venice HS) 3–point play pulled it two within two points at 32–30.

The Otters kept the lead in the 5–10 point range for the next 10 minutes before Stanislaus finally pulled away by ending the game with a 20–6 spurt over the final five minutes to account for the deceptively lopsided final.

THE GAME WAS STATISTICALLY OVER WHEN… Brittney Livingston made a pair of free throws with 1:34 remaining to give Stanislaus 63–49 lead.

DOUBLE–DOUBLE TROUBLE… Yolanda Ealy's 12–point, 10–rebound double–double was her second of the season and the third by an Otter in 2018–19. Ealy's first double–double (10 points, 12 rebounds) came Jan. 10 at Cal State San Bernardino. Camille Parker recorded the other twin killing with 16 points and 12 boards against Cal State East Bay on Dec. 30.

HALF CENTURY CLUB… Chyna Dews led the Otters with five assists Thursday night, giving her an even 50 for the season. She becomes the 32nd player in Otter history to reach that milestone. She is just the third Otter freshman ever to reach that mark and the first since Andrea Hanshew passed 51 assists during the 2003–04 season. Melanie Forter set the Otter freshman record with 55 assists in 2001–02.

PRICE NEARS 400… With 18 points Thursday night in Stanislaus, Jordana Price inched closer to the 400–point mark for her career. She leapfrogged four players to move from No. 31 on the Otter career scoring list to No. 27 with 382 points. She is looking to become the 26th player in Otter history to reach 400 career points.

LEADERS OF THE RAFT… POINTS: Jordana Price 18; REBOUNDS: Yolanda Ealy 10; ASSISTS: Chyna Dews 5; BLOCKS: Camille Parker 2; STEALS: Chyna Dews 3.

THEY'VE GOT NEXT… The Otters return home to host Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State San Bernardino next week. The weekend begins with a Thursday (Jan. 31) doubleheader against the Broncos Tipoff will be at 5:30 p.m. as the opener of men's/women's doubleheader action.
