ARCATA, Calif. — It took the Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team nearly six minutes to score its first points of the second quarter in Saturday's CCAA affair at Humboldt State. That dry spell allowed the Lumberjacks to expand their lead from five to 18 points and the Otters never recovered as Humboldt earned a 64–42 win in Lumberjack Arena.
CSUMB shot just 25 percent (4–for–16) from beyond the arc while turning the ball over an uncharacteristic 17 times. Humboldt, meanwhile, shot 44 percent from long range (11–for–25) while turning the ball over six fewer times. Those two stats basically told the tale.
CSUMB got 10 points from
Aubri Smith (Buena HS/Ventura College) and 10 rebounds from
Courtney Keaton (Bishop Montgomery HS).
Brianna Tucker (Clovis North HS) passed a game–high four assists.
THE GAME WAS STATISTICALLY OVER WHEN… Tyla Turner's short jumper made it 58–39 Lumberjacks with 2:59 to play.
MOVIN' ON UP—REBOUNDING EDITION… With 10 boards Saturday night at Humboldt State,
Courtney Keaton passed Dana Andrews (2006–09) for the No. 4 spot on the Otter career rebounding list with 495.
REBOUND REBOUND… Courtney Keaton posted her 11th double–figure rebounding game of the season with 10 boards Saturday night at Humboldt.
Jordana Price (1) is the only other Otter to accomplish that feat this season.
KEATON KEEPS CLEANING… Courtney Keaton (10 rebounds) led the Otters in rebounding for the 20th time in 23 games this season.
