Parker Records First Double–Double In 64–55 Loss To East Bay

Sopmore Camille Parker posts career highs of 16 points and 12 rebounds

SEASIDE, Calif. — Sophomore forward Camille Parker (Alta Loma HS) rang out 2018 with a bang by posting her first career double–double Saturday afternoon versus Cal State East Bay. Her career highs of 16 points and 12 rebounds weren't enough this time, however, as East Bay came on in the second half to take a 64–55 decision in the final game of the calendar year for both teams.

A 10–point first half from freshman guard Chyna Dews (Venice HS) helped the Otters forge a 30–30 tie at intermission. But East Bay started the second half with a gentle 15–5 run to open a 10–point midway through the third quarter.

Although the Pioneers never pulled away, the Otters never retook the lead, which stayed in the five to 10 point range for the balance of the afternoon.

In addition to Parker, senior guard Jordana Price (Seattle, Wash./Inglemoor HS) added 13 points and four assists. Dews finished with 11 points.

THE GAME WAS STATISTICALLY OVER WHEN… East Bay's Elayshia Woolridge picked up her second steal of the day with 32 seconds remaining and the Pioneers holding a 59–50 lead.

BREAKING THE SEAL ON THE DOUBLE–DOUBLE CLUB… Camille Parker became CSUMB's first member of this season's double–double club with her 16–point, 12–rebound performance Saturday afternoon. Both stats mark career highs for Parker (former 13 points and nine rebounds). Her 12 boards tie freshman Ashley Reynoso for the most by an Otter this season.

PRICE LENDS A HAND… Senior guard Jordana Price led the Otters with four assists Sunday afternoon versus East Bay, matching her career high. She also collected four dimes in games this season versus Cal State L.A. (Dec. 16) and Notre Dame de Namur (Nov. 20).

EVEN AT THE HALF… By earning a 30–30 tie at the half Sunday, the Otters went to the lockerroom tied or better for the first time this season and the first time since they led at East Bay, 26–23, on Feb. 17, 2018.

LEADERS OF THE RAFT… POINTS: Camille Parker 16; REBOUNDS: Camille Parker 12; ASSISTS: Jordana Price 4; BLOCKS: Chyna Dews/Ashley Reynoso 1; STEALS: Yolanda Ealy/Siana Fields 2.

THEY'VE GOT NEXT… The Otters will conclude their brief homestand and ring in 2019 by hosting Stanislaus State Saturday (Jan. 5) as part of a CCAA doubleheader. The women will tip-off at 1 p.m. and the men will tip-off at 3 p.m.
