No. 14 UC San Diego Starts Hot En Route To 77–41 Win

Alisson Dones scores a career–high 12 points to lead CSUMB

SEASIDE, Calif. — Nationally–ranked UC San Diego simply brought too much firepower against Cal State Monterey Bay Thursday night racing to a 26–7 lead after the first quarter en route to a 77–41 win over the Otters in The Kelp Bed.

CSUMB got a career–high 12 points from senior Alisson Dones (San Diego/East Lake HS) and season highs of eight rebounds apiece from Kim McKinney (East Georgia State/Carrollton HS) and Yolanda Ealy (L.A. Valley College/Long Beach Poly), but none of it was enough to counterbalance a Triton attack that put five in double figures.

THE GAME WAS STATISTICALLY OVER WHEN… Brianna Claros knocked down a three to make it 47–18 with 7:51 remaining.

COMING ON LATE… Although still searching for their first win, the Otters continue to play hard to the final whistle. CSUMB won the fourth quarter Thursday night, 14–11. The Otters have either won (3) or tied (1) the fourth quarter in four of their first six games.

For the season, the Otters are shooting 74.2 percent (89–of–120). The CSUMB single–season record for free–throw percentage is 70.6 percent set during the 2008–09 season.
