Otters Finish Idaho Trip With Loss At Northwest Nazarene

Jordana Price, Chyna Dews and Yolanda Ealy all score in double figures in 86–49 defeat

NAMPA, Id. — Three Otters scored in double figures, but it wasn't nearly enough for Cal State Monterey Bay to slow down hot–shooting Northwest Nazarene as the host Nighthawks rolled to an 86–49 win Saturday night in the Johnson Sports Center.

Senior Jordana Price (Seattle/Inglemoor HS) followed her 25–point opening day effort with 11 Saturday. Freshman Chyna Dews (Venice HS) and L.A. Valley College transfer Yolanda Ealy (Long Beach Poly) joined Price in double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively.

The Otters started slow for the second consecutive game. This time, however, they couldn't find their footing as NNU knocked down 12 3–pointers and forced 25 CSUMB turnovers to keep the Otters from getting back into the game.

THE GAME WAS STATISTICALLY OVER WHEN… Jordan Pinson made a 3–pointer to give NNU at 60–26 lead with 2:44 remaining in the third quarter.

FORCING THE FOULS… Otter aggressiveness did a good job of forcing NNU to foul, resulting in 28 free–throw attempts. Chyna Dews and Jordana Price did the best on that front, with Dews finishing 5–of–6 from the line and Price going a perfect 4–of–4.

PLAY IT TO THE END… Despite the score, the Otters played hard until the end, earning a 19–19 tie in Saturday's final quarter.

A LITTLE CLOSER TO HOME… Although the Otters will stay on the road until after Thanksgiving, they will play a bit closer to home in the coming weeks with their next three games all in the San Francisco Bay area. The Otters will play their first home game when they host UC San Diego Nov. 29.

LEADERS OF THE RAFT… POINTS: Chyna Dews/Jordana Price 11; REBOUNDS: Camille Parker 7; ASSISTS: Chyna Dews/Siana Fields 2; BLOCKS: None; STEALS: Siana Fields.

THE LAST WORD… "Hats off to NNU, they have a heck of a team and they shot the ball very well tonight. I don't believe we came ready to play and could of done more of the little things to help ourselves out. We are still learning each other, learning to trust in the process and it's only game two. I am proud of the ladies for fighting through adversity and all. We will get back in the lab continue to work." – CSUMB Head Coach CJ Pace

THEY'VE GOT NEXT… The Otters return to California to play Pac West Conference foe Notre Dame de Namur Tuesday (Nov. 20) in Belmont. Tipoff will be 7 p.m. in NDNU's Gleason Gym.
