Jenna Tobin collects 41 kills, has Otters in first place in CCAA North Division

SEASIDE, Calif. — After leading Cal State Monterey Bay to nine consecutive set wins and a spotless 3–0 homestand, outside hitter Jenna Tobin earned California Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week honors for the week ending Sept. 30.

It's the first CCAA PoTW award for Tobin and the first for an Otter since Julia Ashen was so honored for the week of Oct. 6, 2013.

Tobin, a sophomore from Gregori High School in Modesto, enjoyed a breakout week in what has been a breakout season. She recorded her third and fourth career double–doubles in leading the Otters to wins over Sonoma State (14 kills, 11 digs) and UC San Diego (14 kills, 14 digs). In between those performances, she hit .343 with 13 kills and just one error in a sweep of Cal State San Marcos.

For the week, she finished with 41 kills (3.73 kps) and 30 digs (2.73 dps) while hitting an impressive .292 (41–8–113).

Led by Tobin's big week, CSUMB (10–6, 5–4 CCAA) moved into a tie for first place in the CCAA North Division. The Otters are riding a 4–match winning streak dating to Sept. 22. They hit the road this weekend for a big pair of matches at Chico State (Friday) and North Division co–lead Stanislaus State (Saturday).
