Otters Fall in Series Finalé vs APU

Krauskopf goes 4-for-4; Duer, Sanderson go yard

SEASIDE, Calif. — It took two ties and two lead changes to decide this game, however the final lead change was not in the Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team's favor. Leading 6-4 the Otters allow Azusa Pacific to plate three runs in the eighth inning and one run in the ninth to rally back and hand CSUMB a 8-6 loss.

The Otters tallied 10 hits, four of which came off the bat of J.D. Krauskopf (West Ranch HS). Relief pitcher Jorge Alvarado (Clovis HS) was tagged with the loss after allowing three runs without recording an out in the eighth. CSUMB starter Jeffrey Ahern (Anderson HS) lasted three full innings and allowed three runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out three.

PERFECT AT THE PLATE: As mentioned above, Krauskopf's four hits led the team. The junior shortstop was a perfect 4-for-4 at the dish on Saturday afternoon. He also came around to score twice in the loss.

THE LONG BALL: The Otters hit two home runs on Saturday. The first came from the big bat of Hayden Duer (Davis HS) who hit his second home run in as many games. Duer welcomed Max Sanderson (Foothill HS) to the home run club as the junior outfielder smacked a pinch-hit solo shot for the first of his Otter career.

THE LAST WORD: "We were playing a good team. We allowed them to get guys into scoring position and they came up with clutch hits. I think we will bounce back and have a chance to get things going in the weeks to come." -Head Coach Walt White

THEY'VE GOT NEXT… CSUMB will head to Fresno Pacific for a single night game on Tuesday, Feb. 7. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m. Links to away live stats and broadcasts can be found at www.OtterAthletics.com
