Otters Bounce Back With Epic Walkoff Win vs APU

Vigo's sac fly sends Otters home with 13-12 win

SEASIDE, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team brought its offense in game two against Azusa Pacific as the otters plated eight runs through the first three innings. Trailing 8-2, the Cougars did not go quietly. APU struck again in the fifth inning, this time for six runs that tied the game at 8-8. The Cougars staked an 11-8 lead before CSUMB woke up and plated four runs to take a 12-11 lead. 

More drama took place in the ninth inning as APU tied the game once again at 12-12. Nick Vigo (Simi Valley, Calif.) became the hero as his sacrifice fly sent home Jordan Esposo (Marina, Calif.) for the 13-12 win. 
 



GOING DEEP… The Cougars and Otters combined for six home runs, five of which came off of APU bats.

CAREER FIRSTS: Multiple players recorded their first career RBIs in a an Otter uniform including Max Sanderson (Pleasanton, Calif.), Connor Fabing (San Benito HS), and Jacob Tonascia (San Benito HS)

A TEAM EFFORT... Nine of the 12 hitters in today's game recorded hits, including a 3-for-5 effort from Jacob Tonascia (San Benito HS). Hayden Duer (Davis HS) knocked in four RBIs, three of which came on a 3-run home run in the first inning.
