Duer, Orr drive in two runs each in win

POMONA, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team put a crooked number up in the fourth inning, scoring four runs to grab a 4-1 lead that they would not surrender in a 5-3 win on Sunday's series finalé at Cal Poly Pomona.

Hayden Duer (Davis HS) smacked a 2-run home run for his third big fly of the season. Devin Orr (Roseville HS) followed Duer's lead adding to the inning with a 2-RBI single.

Left-hander Jeffrey Ahern (Anderson HS) got the start a threw three innings of 1-run ball, giving way to four MB relievers. Ryan Arambula (Bell Gardens HS) came in in the fourth and threw three innings of 3-hit baseball, earning his first win of the season. Kyle Narahara (Castro Valley HS) pitched a scoreless bottom of the ninth to record his second save of 2017.

THE GAME WAS OVER WHEN... Narahara struck out Nic Hernandez looking to strand two Broncos on base and end the game

THE LAST WORD..."We pitched very well the whole weekend. A lot of guys contributed on the mound. We are still a work in progress as a team, but I loved the way we competed all weekend. Each game was tightly contested and I was impressed with the way we stayed together when the going got tough. It was a great team win and series win."
