Otters Drop Road Game at San Marcos

Keaton sets career-high 15 rebounds

SAN MARCOS, Calif. — In its final road game of the season the Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team faced off against Cal State San Marcos on a rare Thursday night contest.

The Otters were out played in this game as the Cougars shot over 50 percent from the field to the Otters 38%. CSUMB got the best of the Cougars in the fourth quarter, outscoring the hosts 23-13. Monterey Bay also put three players in double figures led by McKenna Hill's (Saint Bonaventure HS) 14 points.

THE GAME WAS OVER WHEN... Emily Hardin's 3-point attempt rimmed out to start the fourth quarter, leaving the Otters down by 33

CAREER THREES WATCH... With two 3-pointers in this evening's game, VIctoria Dorn now needs seven threes to break the all-time record of 178 set by Dana Andrews. Dorn is at 172 right now.

WINDOW WASHING... Courtney Keaton led the Otters with 15 rebounds tonight, setting a career high. Her previous mark was set last season when she grabbed 14 against Cal State Dominguez Hills on Feb. 20, 2016.

LEADERS OF THE RAFT... POINTS: Hill -- 14; REBOUNDS: Keaton -- 15; ASSISTS: Hill -- 3; STEALS: Keaton, Alexa Sperling -- 2; BLOCKS: NONE

THE LAST WORD... "We were poor defensively tonight as a unit. They attacked us one on one and we didn't do a good job with our help defense. Our lack of aggression got us in a hole early and we weren't able to recover." -Head Coach Kerri Nakamoto

THEY'VE GOT NEXT... The Otters will return for the final two games of the season and will welcome Stanislaus State to the Kelp Bed on Friday night. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.

GO OTTERS!
