SEASIDE, Calif. — Another cold–shooting 40 minutes proved too big of a burden for the Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team to overcome as San Francisco took advantage to win 71–48 Sunday afternoon in The Kelp Bed.
The Otters shot 24.6 percent for the game (17–of–69), the third time in the last five games they've failed to reach 30 percent from the floor. SFSU, meanwhile, went 5–for–9 from beyond the arc in the first half to open a 40–25 lead the Otters wouldn't be able to threaten in the second half.
CSUMB got a double–double from senior forward
Courtney Keaton (Bishop Montgomery HS), who scored 13 points and pulled down 15 rebounds. Freshman guard
Camille Parker (Alta Loma HS) added collegiate highs with 10 points and eight rebounds.
But SFSU, which dressed just eight players Sunday, got big games from several players to counter those efforts. Courtney Brown led all scorers with 22 points while JJ Stephens (24 pts., 13 reb.) and Tyiteyana Jefferson (12 pts., 10 reb.) both chipped in double–doubles.
THE GAME WAS STATISTICALLY OVER WHEN… A mid-range jumper by Courtenay Brown gave the Gators a 63–42 lead with 4:03 to play.
QUADRUPLE DOUBLE–DOUBLE… Courtney Keaton posted her fourth double–double of the season with 13 points and 15 rebounds Sunday. The Otters as a team had just eight double–doubles in all of 2016–17.

THE LAST WORD… "Disappointed in the way we played tonight. We did not execute what we practiced nor did we take great shots. We will look to learn from this to prepare for our games after the break." –
CSUMB Head Coach Kerri Nakamoto
THEY'VE GOT NEXT… The Otters will take a week off to enjoy the Christmas holiday break. They return to action Friday, Dec. 29 at Cal Poly Pomona.
GO OTTERS!
