Four Otters in Double Figures Not Enough at Toros

Hill, Smith, Dorn get 12; Keaton nets 10 points, 5 steals

CARSON, Calif. — Despite have four players in double digit scoring, the Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team was unable to come away with a road win against Cal State Dominguez Hills at the Torodome on Friday night.

CSUMB led by as many as eight in the first quarter, however that was the only quarter in which the Otters won, 16-15. Monterey Bay put four players in double figures including senior McKenna Hill (Saint Bonaventure HS) who was a rebound short of a double-double (12pts, 9 rbs). Aubri Smith (Buena HS), Victoria Dorn (Seaside HS), and Courtney Keaton (Bishop Montgomery HS) chipped in 12, 12 and 10, respectively.

THE GAME WAS STATISTICALLY OVER WHEN… Jocelyne Diaz hit her first of two free throws to give CSUDH a nine point lead with 35 seconds remaining in the game.

LEADING THE WAY: With her 12 points tonight, McKenna Hill has led the Otters in scoring seven times. That includes the last five games and six of last seven games.

SLIGHT OF HAND: Junior Courtney Keaton led the team with a career-high five steals on Friday night. She hit her previous high of 3 three times the last of which came against UC San Diego earlier this month (Jan. 5, 2017)

LEADERS OF THE RAFT… POINTS: Hill, Smith, Dorn -- 12; REBOUNDS: Hill -- 9; ASSISTS: Dorn, Jessie Evans (Harte HS), Christine Golfo (Logan HS) -- 2; BLOCKS: NONE; STEALS: Keaton -- 5

THE LAST WORD: "We were back and forth all game. Statistically we outrebounded them. We need to be more consistent from the free throw line and finish more of our easy baskets to pull out a win tomorrow night." -Head Coach Kerri Nakamoto

THEY'VE GOT NEXT… The Otters will wrap up their 3-game road trip at the Eagles Nest, home of Cal State L.A. on Saturday night (Jan. 21). Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
