HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay volleyball team finished its preconference schedule with a flourish, earning a share of the West Region Crossover title with a 25–16, 25–19, 20–25, 25–19 win over Holy Names University Saturday afternoon in Cal State East Bay's Pioneer Gym.
CSUMB finished tournament action a spotless 4–0, including earlier wins over Notre Dame de Namur, Dominican University and Academy of Art. The Otters share the title with Great Northwest Conference member Saint Martin's University, which also went 4–0 on the weekend.
Amber Tygart (Yucaipa HS) and
Maddy Underwood (Spokane/Grand Canyon Univ.) shared match–high honors with 12 kills apiece.
Whitney Hirst (Huntington Beach/Edison HS) and Underwood added 14 and 11 digs respectively.
The Match Was Over When… Anela Visesio's (Seaside HS) kill capped a 9–1 run that turned a 12–9 deficit into an insurmountable 18–13 lead in the fourth set. Holy Names never got closer than four points again.
Double–Double Toil And Trouble… Maddy Underwood posted her second consecutive double–double and her fourth of the season with 12 kills and 11 digs in Saturday's win. For good measure, she has recorded double–figures kills in six consecutive matches.

Otters On A Roll… The Otters won for the fourth consecutive outing. It's their first 4–match win streak since Nov. 2–12, 2013.
