SEASIDE, Calif. -- In a shocking turn of events, the Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team struggled to score runs on Friday afternoon against Cal State Dominguez Hills. The Otters managed four runs in Fridya's doubleheader, leading to loss of 1–2 and 3–10.
CSUMB's lone run came on a
Brian Bostjancic (Forest Knolls, Calif. / Sir Francis Drake HS) ground out to second that scored
Hayden Duer (Davis HS). Gabe Katich (San Jose / Mount Pleasant HS) was the bright spot for CSUMB in game one as the junior hurler tossed eight innings of one–run, three–hit ball. Katich also increased his strikeout total to 39 with six more today.
The Otter offense did not fair much better in game two despite tripling their output. Duer recorded an RBI single and was followed by a
Chris Blanton (Burlingame HS) sacrifice fly that cut the Otter deficit to three at 2–5.
Kevin Davidson (Yucaipa HS) later smacked his seventh home run of the season in the sixth inning to give CSUMB its third run. However, it was too little, too late as the Toro offense was firing on all cylinders scoring 10 runs on 16 hits in game two.
Monterey Bay and Dominguez Hills will wrap up the 3–game series on Saturday. First pitch is set for 11 a.m.
GO OTTERS!
