SEASIDE, Calif. -- Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team scored early and often against San Francisco State on Friday afternoon. The Otters scored in the first four innings en route to a 14–4 victory in game one of the four game series.
CSUMB scored three times in the first inning, four times in the second inning, and plated two runs in both the third and fourth innings to stake a convincing 11–2 after four innings. A
Justin Flores (Fresno, Calif. / Clovis West HS) two–RBI double in the sixth inning capped off a 4–for–5 day at the plate. The senior right fielder drove in a career–high five runs and scored two leading the offense to the 14–4 victory.
Bryan Bostjancic (Forest Knolls, Calif. / Sir Francis Drake HS) had a 3–for–4 day at the plate that featured his second triple of the season and two RBIs.
Monterey Bay starter
Gabe Katich (San Jose / Mount Pleasant HS) pitched a solid six innings allowing two runs on three hits. Katich earns his fourth win of the season and improves to 4–1.
Monterey Bay improves to 16–3, 5–2 CCAA and will travel to San Francisco for Saturday's doubleheader. First pitch is set for noon at The Swamp.
