SEASIDE, Calif. — One night after playing one of its best matches of the season in a 5–set defeat to CCAA–leading Chico State, the Cal State Monterey Bay came out flat in against Stanislaus State, allowing the Warriors to roll to a 25–13, 25–19, 25–16 win in The Kelp Bed.
Stanislaus, which itself had been rolled by East Bay on Friday night, clearly was the fresher side in this one. With the exception of a strong start to the second set, the Otters seemed a step slower through the match.
The Otters set season lows for kills (24), aces (1), digs (29) and blocks (5.0). For its part, Stanislaus simply avoided making errors and used the strong arm of senior outside hitter Blair Erlich to get key kills.
Anela Visesio (Seaside HS) led CSUMB with nine kills.
Paige Burrell (Ripon HS) served the only Otter ace.
THE MATCH WAS OVER WHEN… An Otter service error allowed Stanislaus to tie the match at 19–19 in the second set. That began a match–ending 32–16 run for the Warriors.

THE LAST WORD… "The team that showed up all week to play didn't show up tonight. We lacked passion, GRIT and the will to compete. We have to find ourselves again this week before we hit the road for three tough matchups." —
CSUMB Head Coach Moe Melhart.
THEY'VE GOT NEXT… The Otters hit the road to begin a 3–match trip starting Friday (Oct. 21) at Sonoma State.
GO OTTERS!
