ROHNERT PARK, Calif. — Sonoma State took a match with big postseason implications, earning a split of the season series with Cal State Monterey Bay by virtue of a 28–26, 25–12, 25–18 win Friday in The Wolves Den.
CSUMB failed to reach the 30–kill mark for the second consecutive match (29) while Sonoma hit an efficient .351 to pull away after saving a pair of set points in the opening frame.
Anela Visesio (Seaside HS) and
Maddy Underwood (Spokane, Wash./Mead HS) led the Otters with 10 and eight kills respectively.
Ashlynne Armstrong led the backrow with nine digs.
THE MATCH WAS OVER WHEN… A Rachel Andrews kill saved CSUMB's final set point in the opening frame at 26–26. The Seawolves out–scored the Otters 53–32 to seal the match.
KNOCK THE BLOCK… The Otters managed just three total blocks in Friday's match. It was their fewest blocks of the season and fewest since they had one block at Cal State San Bernardino on Oct. 17, 2015.
