Otters Return to The Win Column vs San Marcos

Harris ties career-high with 16, Hill with 15

SEASIDE, Calif. -- The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team took to the Kelp Bed floor on Saturday afternoon looking to turn the tide after loosing the last four games. The Otters led for over 30 minutes in the game, en route to a 63-58 win over Cal State San Marcos.

The momentum of the game was back and forth in the first quarter, as the CSUMB led by as many as four points and held a three point lead at the end of the first 10 minutes. CSUMB continued to find its rhythm, continuously pumping the ball down low to Mykayla Harris (Orange, Calif. / Villa Park HS) to capture a seven point lead at halftime, 32-25.

CSUMB scored the first points of the second half and jumped out a nine point lead, forcing Cal State San Marcos to call a quick timeout. Despite being outscored in the third quarter, the Otters held a six point lead heading into the final quarter. The Cougars were able to get within five points of the Otter lead, but CSUMB had the answer for San Marcos in the 63-58 win.

The aforemention post threat Harris led the Otters tying a career–high with 16 points. McKenna Hill (Ventura, Calif. / Saint Bonaventure HS) was close behind with 15 points on 7–of–16 shooting. Courtney Keaton (Los Angeles, Calif. / Bishop Montgomery HS) was one off her career mark in rebounds with 10, the only Otter with double digit boards.

Monterey Bay will begin a four–game road trip next weekend beginning on February 5 at Stanislaus State.
