Shorthanded Otters Fall To Holy Names In Home Opener

Otters allow two goals in second half

Story Links

SEASIDE, Calif. -- The Cal State Monterey Bay Women's Soccer team opened up the Otter Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon against Holy Names University, but did not get the outcome they had hoped for.

Kristen Womack (Roseville, Calif./Woodcreek HS) scored her third goal in two games in the first half, putting her atop the career scoring list with 12 goals. However, a red card late in the first half meant CSUMB would have to play with 10 on the field for the remainder of the game.

Not having the extra body made a difference as the Hawks were able to score twice in the second 45 minutes to spoil the Otters' home opener, 2–1.

CSUMB moves to 1–1 on the season. Monterey Bay will head to San Francisco on Tuesday, September 8 for a nonconference match against Avademy of Art.
