Men's Soccer | September 10, 2015
SEASIDE, Calif. -- The Cal State Monterey Bay Men's Soccer team has had a blazing start to the 2015 season winning it's first three games on the road. The Otters 3–0 start is the best nonconference record since they began the 2013 season with a 2–0 mark.
The unblemished start has led to receive votes in the first NSCAA national poll, and in fourth place in the west region poll.
CSUMB kicked off the season with an overtime thriller against Notre Dame de Namur where freshman
Michael Maul (Danville, Calif./San Ramon Valley HS) scored the first goal of the season just 52 seconds into the first OT.
Since then, three other Otters have scored in wins against Hawaii–Hilo and Hawaii Pacific. Maul also scored his second goal of the season in the 2–1 win over HPU.
The defense led by senior goalkeeper
Evan Drake (Sacramento, Calif./El Camino HS) has allowed one goal in three games, including two consecutive shutouts of NDNU and HHU.
The Otters will play at home for the first time this season on Saturday when they welcome Fresno Pacific to the Otter Sports Complex. FPU is off to a 0–1–1 start, but is 2–0 against CSUMB including a 3-2 win in 2014 in Fresno.
Kickoff on Saturday is set for 4 p.m. If you are unable to make it to the game, you can follow along with
