SEASIDE, Calif. -- It was another back and forth game between the Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team and Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday afternoon as the game featured 7 ties and 8 lead changes. The Otters had a chance to win the game at the end of regulation down by two, but
Victoria Dorn's (Marina, Calif./Seaside HS) three pointer did not fall as CSUMB fell to CPP 63-65.
Monterey Bay bay held a four point lead after the first quarter, but managed 10 points in the second quarter and fell behind by four despite a buzzer-beating tray to end the first half.
CSUMB came out firing by draining it's first three shots behind the arc. However, Pomona was able to make shots of their own to keep it a lose game. After a buzzer beater of thier own at the end of the third quater, the Broncos held thier largest lead of the game at eight points.
With 21 seconds left the Otters had a chance for the win, but the Broncos stout defense on the perimeter kept the Otters from gettting inside, forcing them to settle for a wild thre point shot that didn't fall.
Stephanie Sack (Petaluma, Calif. / Casa Grande HS) led the Otter ffensively with a career–high 20 points.
McKenna Hill (Ventura, Calif. / Saint Bonaventure HS) contributed a double-double with a quiet 11 points and 12 rebounds. Dornalso found double digits with 13 points.
The Broncos finished with three players in double–digit scoring as well with Jordyn Shane leading the way with 19. Mary Williams had a double–double (16 points, 10 rebounds) while Marshanique Hall recorded 13 in the win.
Monterey Bay will wrap up the year 2015 with a non–conference game against Southern Oregon on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
