OTTERS vs. RAIDERS HIGHLIGHTSSEASIDE, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team couldn't find the high note with which to close the calendar year, falling to visiting Southern Oregon 69–62 in the final Otter Athletics event for 2015.
The Otter defense slowed the high octane SOU offense—which entered the night averaging more than 91 points per game—but offset set that effort by making 20 turnovers.
The Otters trailed for much of the game but rallied to take a 5–point lead late in the third quarter. They still led by one at the end of the third quarter, 50–49, before the Raiders began the final period with a 12–0 run to regain control.
MB battled back to within three points and had two possessions with opportunities to tied the game inside the final 2:05, but couldn't hit the key shot. SOU made four free throws in the final 26 seconds to secure the win.
Freshman
Brianna Tucker (Clovis North HS) led the Otters with a season–high 14 points. They were the most points scored by an Otter freshman since
Emma Keenan (Spokane/Lewis and Clark HS) scored 20 against Stanislaus State on Jan. 23, 2015.
CSUMB will take two weeks off for winter break before returning to action in The Kelp Bed against Sonoma State on New Year's Day.
GO OTTERS!
