HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team closed play at the CCAA/PacWest Thanksgiving Shootout with a convincing 67–45 win over Notre Dame de Namur Saturday afternoon in Cal State East Bay's Pioneer Gym.
McKenna Hill (Ventura/St. Bonaventure HS) led the way for CSUMB (4–2 overall) with 18 points. Sophomore
Rachel Amerine (Chandler, Ariz./Perry HS) added her first collegiate double–double with career highs of 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Otters never trailed in this one. They opened a 23–12 lead by the end for the first quarter. The Otters extended their lead to 54–36 by halftime and led by as many as 24 points in the second half before settling on the final margin of 22.
The 45 points allowed by the Otters were a season low as were their 10 turnovers. CSUMB continued its strong rebounding trend by beating the Argonauts on the glass, 47–39.
The Otters conclude their 8–game road trip to open the season next weekend. They travel to La Jolla to open CCAA play at conference contender UCSD Friday before playing an exhibition game Sunday at Big West Conference foe UC Davis.
