HAYWARD, Calif. — Jasmin Guinn did the Otters in Friday afternoon, exploding for a CSUMB opponent-record 35 points in Academy of Art's 88–68 win in the opener of the CCAA/PacWest Thanksgiving Shootout in Pioneer Gym.
Guinn, who also set the Urban Knight single game scoring record in this one, had a monster opening half, scoring 10 points in the first quarter and 16 in the second to help the Urban Knights build a 53–29 lead at the break. The Otters out-scored ArtU in the second half, but only enough to cut four points off the final margin by the buzzer.
Jazmine Johnson (Garden Grove/Santa Ana College) led the Otters with 17 points.
McKenna Hill (Ventura/St. Bonaventure HS) chipped in 14 points. Johnson and
Alexa Sperling (Clovis/Buchanan HS) led the Otters to a 47–39 edge on the glass with seven rebounds apiece.
CSUMB closes play at the CCAA/PacWest Thanksgiving Shootout Saturday when it meets Notre Dame de Namur for a 2 p.m. tipoff.
