SEASIDE, Calif. -- Despite outshooting its opponent for the first time since September 5, the back of the net eluded the Cal State Monterey Bay Women's Soccer team in a tough 1-0 loss to Humboldt State on Friday afternoon at the Otter Sports Complex.
CSUMB had the 7-5 edge in shots, but it was HSU's Alex Jenkins who found the back of the net in the fourth minute, her fourth of the season. A combination a stingy Lumberjack defense and unlucky Otter shot selection kept the Otters off the board for 90 minutes.
CSUMB goalkeeper
Victoria Whyte (Austin, Texas) made 2 saves while
Christen Silkey (Sonoma, Calif./Sonoma Valley HS) saw her first minutes and collected a save in the second half.
The Otters fall to 3–7, 0–4 CCAA on the season. Monterey Bay will battle #14 Sonoma State on Sunday with kickoff set for 11:30 a.m. at the Otter Sports Complex.
GO OTTERS!
