LOS ANGELES — The Cal State Monterey Bay volleyball team never got on track Friday night and Cal State L.A. took advantage to roll to a 25–13, 25–18, 25–11 win in The Eagles Nest.

Senior outside hitter Julia Ashen (North Salinas HS) led CSUMB with seven kills while junior libero Rachel Cookus (Thousand Oaks HS) chipped in 14 digs, but neither were enough to stem the CSULA tide in this one. The Otters stayed close only in the second set, when they forged an 11–8 lead midway through the stanza. But the Golden Eagles reeled of six consecutive points to retake the lead and they wouldn't trail again for the duration of the match.

In addition to Ashen and Cookus, freshman Angelina Freiberger (Costa Mesa/Edison HS) served three aces to highlight the Otter half of the box score.

CSUMB returns to action Saturday evening when it concludes its current 4–match roadtrip at Cal State Dominguez Hills. The Otters return home to host Cal State East Bay Oct. 1 in The Kelp Bed.
