They entered the postseason ranked No. 3.  After being unranked early in the season, the Otters received votes for the first time in the March 5 rankings before cracking the Top 25 for the first time at No. 16 on the March 12.

The Otters ended the regular season by appearing in the final 11 polls, including eight consecutive in the Top 10.

HEAD COACH ANDREA KENNEY
CSUMB Head Coach Andrea Kenney (@Andrea_Kenney) enters the Super Regional with a 420–314–2 record in 14+ seasons as a collegiate head coach.  In 8+ seasons as the only coach in Otter softball history, she owns a 290–225–1 mark.

At the NCAA Division II level, she was the RMAC Coach of the Year at New Mexico Highlands in 1999 and earned her second CCAA Coach of the Year award (2010, 2014) while leading the Otters to their third CCAA title in five seasons.

ALL–REGION OTTERS
The first wave of regional/national awards has come along, and the Otters have been very well represented. Both Cori Reinhardt (Riverside Poly) and Lindsey Clarkson (Fresno/Central HS) earned first team All–District VIII honors and have advanced to the Capital One Academic All–America® ballot.

Four Otters made the cut on the Daktronics All–West Region first team, lead by Clarkson (Pitcher of the Year) and Reinhardt (Player of the Year). Joining them on the Daktronics All–America ballot will be fellow first team all–region players: first baseman Madison Casto (Sunnyvale/Homestead HS) and designated player Bianca Noriega (Ventura/Camarillo HS).

ALL–CCAA OTTERS
Just as they were on the all–region team, the Otters took home their share of hardware from the All–CCAA Awards Brunch this season as well. Cori Reinhardt became the first Otter softball player ever named the CCAA Player of the Year. Joining her on the first team were Madison Casto and Bianca Noriega.

Lindsey Clarkson was a second team All–CCAA selection. Junior third baseman Alissa Greenhaw (Galt/Cosumnes River College) earned honorable mention recognition.

HOPING FOR ONE MORE CHANCE
Sherene Thompson (Gold River/Rio Americano HS) is hoping that the Otters advance through the Super Regional so she'll get one more chance to play collegiate softball. Thompson, who carries as 3.97 grade point average as a kinesiology major, will not be making the trip so she can take part in CSUMB's commencement ceremonies Saturday on campus.

Thompson is the only senior on the 2014 Otter Softball roster.
