HAYWARD, Calif. – Pioneer ace Nick Hudson limited Cal State Monterey Bay to six hits in nine innings, as the Otters fell 6-2 to Cal State East Bay Friday afternoon.

After the Pioneers scored on a combination of error and sacrifice fly in the second inning, CSUMB put up two runs in the next half inning to take its only lead of the game.  Sophomore Matt Urakami (San Jose/Branham HS) led off the third with a single and advanced to third on junior Brian Hamm's (Pleasanton/Chabot College) double through the the left side.  Both runners scored on back-to-back ground outs.

The Pioneers would tie the game in the fourth on a wild pitch and would score single runs in each of the final four innings.

Junior Jeff Owen (Clovis East HS) took the loss after going six innings and allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits.

CSUMB will host the Pioneers in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 12 in Seaside.  First pitch is at noon.
