Saturday's game will be the first live national TV appearance for the Otter women and the first for any Otter team to be broadcast from CSUMB.
SEASIDE, Calif. — The most anticipated game of the Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball season is almost here as the Otters prepare to host Cal State San Bernardino Saturday in their first national television appearance from The Kelp Bed.
The game will be televised live on the CBS Sports Network (see channel guide below) with tip–off scheduled for 11:05 a.m. Veteran broadcasters Tony Luftman (
@TonyLuftman) and Leah Secondo (
@LeahSecondo) will handle play–by–play and color duties. Cat Andersen will be the sideline reporter.
"We are extremely honored to have been selected for a nationally–televised game on CBS Sports Network," says CSUMB Head Coach
Kerri Nakamoto (
@CoachKNakamoto). "It will be a tremendous opportunity to showcase our first class student–athletes and University to a national audience. It will be an amazing atmosphere in the Kelp Bed."
In addition to a chance to bask in the national spotlight, Otter fans will have the opportunity to welcome back an old friend as former head coach Renee Jimenez brings her San Bernardino team to CSUMB for the first time.
More than just a national television appearance for the Otters, the game will be the inaugural Division II Social Media Game. Numerous social media promotions will be built around the game, including special social media team apparel, giveaways and behind-the-scenes access.
"We're thrilled to partner with Division II leadership in building a fun and engaging social media experience around a big athletic event on our campus," said
Kirby Garry (
@kirbygarry), CSUMB's director of athletics. "Our teams embrace social platforms as a front door to our athletic department and as a way to connect and engage with our growing fan base."
"Cal State Monterey Bay is a Division II leader in leveraging social platforms to build their athletic brand and game day environment," said Terri Steeb Gronau, NCAA Division II president of Division II. "They are a model partner for this initiative and will be instrumental in building best practices for use throughout Division II."
Fans in the Monterey County area who can't make it to the game may watch live on the following local channels. Please check with your cable or satellite service provider if it is not represented here.
