Senior Servando Perez knocks in team-best fourth goal of season.
BOX SCORE TURLOCK, Calif. – Three first half goals were too much to overcome as the Cal State Monterey Bay men's soccer team fell to Cal State Stanislaus 3-1 Sunday afternoon in conference play.
Stanislaus got on the board first in the seventh minute when a Josh Handley throw-in set up Kyle Cadigan's for a header that got past keeper
Evan Drake (Sacramento/El Camino HS).
It took only 27 seconds for CSUMB to answer with the equalizer. Senior
Servando Perez (Guadalupe/Righetti HS) received the ball from a throw-in inside the 18-yard box with back to the goal, turned and finished shot to the far post for his team-leading fourth goal of the season.
The Warriors broke the tie in the 24th minute on Carlos Gavino's goal and pulled away on Gerardo Cazares' goal in the 39th minute.
Drake earned six saves in his eighth start of the season while Stanislaus's Clint Long picked up three saves.
After opening the season with four straight victories, the Otters have hit a small slump with three losses in the last four games. CSUMB will look to turn things around on Friday, Oct. 4 against San Francisco State at the Otter Sports Complex. Kickoff is 12:30 p.m.
