Junior Jami Murray knocks in her first game-winning goal of 2013.
BOX SCORE HAYWARD, Calif. – Junior
Jami Murray's (Newbury/City College of San Francisco) 67th minute header was the difference Friday night at Pioneer Stadium as the Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer team earned a 1-0 shutout over Cal State East Bay in CCAA action.
"It's never easy to get a win on the road, but we got the job done today," said Head Coach
Erin Reinke. "Sherene served a good ball from a corner kick that Jami could get on the end of it. Jami has been solid on finishing and stepping up to help the team win.
The Otter midfielder flicked the ball in a new direction off senior
Sherene Thompson's (Gold River/Rio Americano HS) corner kick.
Junior
Lily Garza (Redwood City/City College of San Francisco) recorded three saves to earn her first save of the season.
The Otters outshot CSUEB 9-6, with six shots coming in the second half. CSUMB held a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.
"The back four had a solid game," Reinke said. "
Chelsea (Strange) had a brilliant performance at the defensive midfield position. She had a solid presence and won every battle."
The Otters (3-3-1, 2-2-1 CCAA) are back in action on Sunday, traveling to Turlock for a match-up against Cal State Stanislaus at 11:30 a.m.
