BOX SCORE SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team missed a chance to win its first CCAA series sweep in program history as visiting San Francisco State earned a 6-1 win Sunday afternoon at the Otter Sports Complex.
In a game that featured both teams earning 10 hits, the Gators took advantage of an 11-4 base-on-ball ratio to earn their first conference win.
With the loss, the Otters drop to 11-4 overall and 6-2 in CCAA but earned their second conference series victory after winning the first three games.
Junior
Josh Eagle (Antioch, Calif./Sierra College) took the loss after a difficult outing that lasted 2 1/3 innings, consisting of four runs (three earned) and six walks.
SF State's starter Paul Moeller earned his first win of 2013. A.J. Pianto had a team-high three hits for the Gators.
Senior
Brian Haggett (Hollister, Calif./West Valley College) once again led the Otters, going 3-for-4 with an RBI.
The Gators took a four run lead in the top of the first on three hits and a CSUMB error.
The Otters embark on their first conference road trip Friday, March 1, visiting Cal State L.A. for a four-game series.
