BOX SCORE SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team registered a 5-3 win Sunday to clinch a 3-1 series victory over the Pioneers in their CCAA opening weekend.
The Otters improved to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in conference action with the win. Pioneers dropped to 8-3 and 1-3.

Josh Eagle (Antioch, Calif./Sierra College) and reliever
A.J. Quintero (Vacaville, Calif./Sacramento CC) gave up zero earned runs in the nine innings. Eagle earned the win after tossing six innings and Quintero closed the game for the save.
Freshman
Andres Coll (Panorama City, Calif./Arleta HS) had his first collegiate hit with a single up the middle and followed it with a double in his next at bat to go 2-for-3 with a run. Seniors
Tommy George (Elk Grove, Calif./Elk Grove HS) and
Ronnie Fhurong (Hollister, Calif./San Benito HS) had two hits.
George got the ball rolling in the first with a triple up the middle and scored on a sacrifice fly by senior
Victor Rasor-Thompson (San Diego, Calif./Univ. of San Diego).
The Otters added two more runs in the third. Junior
Mark Hurley (Hollister, Calif./College of San Mateo) drove in one on a RBI single and Rasor-Thompson scored on a Pioneer throwing error.
The Pioneers took advantage of the first of CSUMB's four errors, scoring in the fourth to make it 3-1.
A 2-RBI single by George in the sixth extended CSUMB's lead to 5-1.
CSUEB once again capitalized on two Otter errors in the eighth to add two runs.
David Castillo led the Pioneers, going 3-for-4 with a run. Sean Becker took the loss, allowing five runs after six innings of work.
The Otters host San Francisco State on Friday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m.
