BOX SCORE SEASIDE, Calif. – A seven-run sixth inning lifted the Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team to an 8-5 CCAA season-opening victory over Cal State East Bay Friday.
The Otters improved to 6-2 overall while handing the Pioneers (7-1, 0-1 CCAA) their first loss of 2013.

Mark Hurley (Hollister, Calif./College of San Mateo) went 3-for-3 with two runs and a RBI. Senior
Victor Rasor-Thompson (San Diego, Calif./Univ. of San Diego) was also perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a run.

Chris Daniels tossed eight solid innings to earn his first victory. He relinquished two earned runs off four hits.
The Otters found themselves down 2-0 entering the sixth where they collected seven runs on eight hits. The inning was highlighted by senior
Ronnie Fhurong's (Hollister, Calif./San Benito HS) one-out base-clearing triple.
After the Otters added a run in the seventh, CSUEB put together a rally with three runs in the top of the ninth. Junior reliever
Andrew Wild (Visalia, Calif./Fresno City College) forced the tying run at the plate to ground to first for the win.
Charlie Sharrer led the Pioneers with two hits and a run.
The series continues on Saturday, Feb. 16 with a doubleheader in Hayward. First pitch is 11 a.m.
